Job Summary

The Store Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations, including leadership, management, and supervision of subordinate management and sales teams. Key responsibilities include planning and executing business strategies, managing merchandising, associate hiring and development, customer service, and financial results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial oversight of sales and profit goals, achieving superior results through merchandising, margin management, expense control, and shrinkage reduction.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through workforce formation and scheduling, establishing and modeling service expectations in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Develop and execute plans for recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and development of store associates, supporting employee retention and leadership talent development.
  • Ensure the Assistant Store Manager carries out management and supervisory responsibilities with appropriate oversight.
  • Perform opening and closing store functions as needed.
  • Develop and support a team-oriented environment with Assistant Managers and associates.
  • Monitor and assist direct reports in maintaining freight flow, merchandise maintenance, and operational controls to company standards.
  • Timely and accurate completion of internal reporting processes.
  • Maintain building, grounds, and equipment in good repair.
Requirements
  • Ability to operate store equipment, including telephones, copiers, fax machines, computers, forklifts, etc.
  • Ability to process merchandise information through the store computer system, register, and complete required paperwork.
  • Ability to move throughout all store areas, including sales floor, receiving, register areas, and outside perimeter.
  • Ability to travel between stores with some overnight stays required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Higher education, including two and four-year degrees related to business management, preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of three years store management experience in a mid-size to large retail service-oriented business, or demonstration of skills and learning through an internal development program and selection process.
  • Possess the ability to effectively manage in a professional work environment.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Efficient planning, prioritization, and implementation of detailed instructions.
  • The ability to learn and communicate new information and processes to all associates within company standards.
  • Comprehension of selling and service skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Ability to move objects up to and exceeding 200 pounds with reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work irregular or non-core business hours, nights, weekends as needed to have store coverage.
