Job Overview

Friends of Youth is a leading organization providing essential services to young adults experiencing homelessness in North and East King County. We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team and provide critical support and resources to our clients.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing street-based crisis intervention and support to young people interested in mental health care. You will also offer culturally tailored referrals to mental health resources in the office, community, or via telephone, meeting with young people accessing Drop-In Services to offer resources in conjunction with participant needs, and engaging regularly in community outreach with the Street Outreach team.

The ideal candidate will have experience providing case management services with an emphasis on trauma-informed care, harm reduction philosophy, and strengths-based practice. They will be able to engage with diverse populations in a culturally responsive manner and demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing street-based crisis intervention and support to young people interested in mental health care
  • Offering culturally tailored referrals to mental health resources in the office, community, or via telephone
  • Meeting with young people accessing Drop-In Services to offer resources in conjunction with participant needs
  • Engaging regularly in community outreach with the Street Outreach team to inform young people about available mental health support services
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a human-service field (or equivalent experience)
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience, including supporting youth, young adults, and families experiencing homelessness
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS365 Power Platform and ability to utilize it effectively
  • CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification within 30 days of employment
Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $26-$32.50 per hour, depending on experience. Friends of Youth offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous time off, health insurance, retirement plan, and transgender health benefits.
