Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead our Street Outreach Team in engaging with disconnected youth experiencing homelessness in the District of Columbia and Prince George's County.

Sasha Bruce Youthwork is a leading provider of homeless youth services in the DC region. Founded in 1974, we have a strong commitment to improving the lives of runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected youth and their families.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Homeless Youth Services Coordinator. You will be responsible for developing and implementing street and institutional outreach plans that target specific areas and populations. You will also develop detailed maps and guides of "hot spots" where homeless youth congregate.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective outreach strategies targeted to underserved communities.
  • Conduct outreach in Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland.
  • Gather information from staff and partners to continuously update strategies and maps.
  • Facilitate training for SOP volunteers and new staff on appropriate engagement methods.
  • Provide initial assessments to youth, distribute survival aid and information, and potentially transport youth to safe facilities.
  • Provide crisis case management interventions to homeless youth, check-ins, and ensure a warm-hand transfer to ongoing case workers.
  • Enter youth information into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other data trackers created for the SOP program.
  • Complete client case records within 24-48 hours of the service and maintain accurate, complete, and confidential case files.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with low-income families, preferably in an urban setting.
  • Two or more years of experience developing, carrying out, and evaluating trainings, workshops, or other programming specific to street outreach.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of harm reduction strategies and positive youth development.
  • Experience connecting families with community assistance resources.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is $70,000 per year.
