Job Title: Youth Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Youth Care Specialist to join our team at Youth Opportunity Investments, LLC. As a Youth Care Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing care and support to youth in need.

Job Summary

The Youth Care Specialist will supervise a group of 7-10 youth, maintaining knowledge of their whereabouts and ensuring their safety and security. This role requires strong group counseling and leadership skills, as well as the ability to think and act independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the activities of a group of youths, maintaining knowledge of their whereabouts and ensuring their safety and security.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment using group counseling techniques, individual relationships, and positive discipline techniques.
  • Represent each youth's problems, needs, and accomplishments to the treatment team.
  • Call and/or conduct problem-solving group meetings and daily reviews with the assigned group of youths.
  • Assist classroom teachers in the delivery of subject matter and transfer of class content and study practices to the living units.
  • Document daily shift occurrences and frequent population counts as required by local and corporate policy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Two years of college coursework in a social or human service field (preferred) or a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years' work experience working with youth (preferred).
  • Verbal skills to relate effectively with youth on an adult level.
  • Group counseling and leadership skills.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to distinguish between cause and effect and opinion and fact.
