We are seeking a highly skilled Travel Sales Counselor to join our team at AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional travel sales and support experiences to our Members.
About the Role
- Sell international and domestic vacation packages, cruises, tours, hotel, car rental, rail, and air travel to meet the needs of our Members.
- Research and compare travel products to deliver exceptional Member experiences.
- Stay up-to-date with world events and travel industry developments to provide relevant information to Members.
- Process and interpret travel documents for Members purchasing travel products with AAA.
- Initiate contact with Members and past customers to prospect for new business and encourage repeat business.
- Cross-sell products and services, such as insurance and new membership accounts.
Requirements
- Basic computer skills and experience with industry-specific applications, such as Galileo and VAX.
- GDS experience required (Apollo/Galileo/Travelport).
- Knowledge of travel products and worldwide geography, with the ability to read and interpret maps and brochures.
- Strong consultative selling skills and the ability to listen to Member needs.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 2 years of recent experience selling international and domestic travel services.
- Experience working with sales and service standards and goals.
- Travel Institute certification as CTA, CTC, or CTIE (preferred).
Work Environment
- Work in an office environment with extended periods of sitting at a desk or computer workstation.
- May travel by car, plane, or other transportation to attend business meetings or conferences.
- Approximately 70-80% of the time spent on the job involves the use of a personal computer.
