Job Summary

BB&E Inc is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to provide design support services for various projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in fire protection engineering for new and existing facilities, including analysis, plans, specifications, calculations, and estimates for active and passive fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fire protection engineering for new and existing facilities, including analysis, plans, specifications, calculations, and estimates for active and passive fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with project and customer requirements.
  • Facilitate the minimization of project delays by providing technical reviews and recommendations within predetermined timeframes.
  • Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and Federal laws and regulations, and provide sound technical recommendations both verbally and in writing.
  • Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues.
  • Coordinate with the Government client, NAVFAC team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, make recommendations based on project requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedules/coordinates plans of actions and milestones (POAMs), and effectively communicate findings to project personnel.
  • Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design-bid-build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc. to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements.
  • Provide technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections.
  • Provide technical support for the construction field activities.
  • Provide a summary of accomplishments during weekly meetings and in a prepared monthly status report.

Requirements:

  • US Citizen
  • Security Clearance: Secret (Tier 3 preferred) or ability to obtain
  • Demonstrated experience performing fire protection engineering for new and existing facilities, including analysis, plans, specifications, calculations, and estimates for active and passive fire protection systems.
  • Well-versed with the National Electric Code
  • Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and versed in the discipline being hired
  • Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and in briefing management personnel
  • Demonstrated experience in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), AutoCAD and/or Revit, etc.
  • The ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS, MS Teams, and Zoom may also be necessary
  • P.E. desired, but not required

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of 6 years of Design Management and/or Design experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Engineering college curriculum (4-year degree)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 60% of the time
  • Able to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
  • Capable of light lifting, under 10 lbs.
