Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Relations Specialist (Pharmacy Technician) plays a pivotal role in managing internal processes related to necessary prescription modifications, including rider set-ups, prior authorizations, and communication with members and healthcare providers.

This position serves as a key point of contact with management regarding formulary challenges, procedural oversight, and administrative tasks.

Role Responsibilities:
This role is tasked with the coordination, execution, and oversight of activities associated with the drug formulary.

The specialist is responsible for processing, communicating, documenting, and tracking requests for formulary exceptions, copayment adjustments, prior authorizations, and appeals concerning drug formulary and utilization management in collaboration with leadership and colleagues.

Regular communication with the Pharmacy Services Manager, members, healthcare providers, and internal teams is essential.

This position will also handle incoming inquiries from members and physicians, delivering exceptional customer service while addressing any pharmacy-related concerns.

Flexibility in work hours, including potential overtime and weekend shifts, may be necessary to accommodate workload demands. Please note that this position does not involve direct patient care.

Essential Qualifications:
Requirements
  • Education: Proficiency in the English language, encompassing reading, writing, and verbal communication.
A valid Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Nevada or National Pharmacy Technician certification, or equivalent experience in pharmacy or managed care settings.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience within a managed care organization and/or two years as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital environment.
Licenses: Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Nevada
Certifications: Pharmacy Technician certification (State or National)

Technical Skills:

Must possess, or be able to acquire within 90 days, the necessary computer skills to fulfill online training requirements for job-specific competencies, access online documentation and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.

At least one year of experience with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word, including basic functionalities such as email/calendar management, navigating and understanding Excel documents, and editing/saving files.
