Job Summary

CAPS Collaborative is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who are deaf and hard of hearing, and possess strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist a certified teacher in providing specially designed instructional and non-instructional activities for students with significant multiple disabilities, including sensory impairments.
  • Work in small groups and one-to-one with students to provide physical and emotional support.
  • Assist in setting clear and structured limits relative to student behavior.
  • Prepare classroom materials and correct/grade student class work under teacher direction.
  • Supervise students during transitions and assist with large group meetings/activities or field trips.
  • Perform record keeping and other clerical duties.
  • In the event of teacher absence, act as a substitute classroom teacher.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Respect and maintain student and family confidentiality.
  • Cooperate successfully as a team member.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the team.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Be flexible and willing to learn new skills.
  • Perform delegated duties with expertise and assume responsibility for own professional development.
