School Health Specialist Job Description

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care in a school setting, conducting nursing assessments and diagnosis for students, and administering medication as needed.

About the Role:

  • Conduct regular health screenings for students, staff, and families.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to integrate health education into the school curriculum.
  • Provide guidance on healthy behaviors and promote wellness initiatives among students, staff, and families.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local healthcare providers and community organizations to promote health and wellness initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Current Virginia unrestricted Registered Nurse license.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Active Virginia Driver's License required.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful experience required.
  • Experience working in a school setting preferred.

Salary Information:

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for an advanced degree stipend of up to $7,800 per year.
