Spiritual Care Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Spiritual Care Coordinator to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our Spiritual Care team, you will play a vital role in providing emotional, spiritual, and bereavement support to patients, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Make regular spiritual care visits to patients, families, and hospital staff to enable them to utilize, discover, or develop their spiritual resources.
- Interact with patients, families, and staff in a warm and inviting manner, fostering pastoral relationships and providing spiritual resources tailored to their needs.
- Document patient interactions, progress, and care in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring seamless communication with the Spiritual Care team and interdisciplinary team members.
- Maintain a consistent accountability for spiritual care activities, collaborating with staff, Spiritual Care team members, and Department Director to ensure high-quality care.
- Participate in the on-call pager rotation, providing 24-hour availability of spiritual care and supporting patients, families, and staff during critical moments.
- Develop and facilitate bereavement support groups, memorial services, and other programs to meet the needs of hospice families and communities.
- Collaborate with nursing homes to develop memorial services for patients who have passed, ensuring a dignified and respectful farewell.
- Apply positive communication skills and leadership abilities when working with other clergy and outside resources, promoting a cohesive and supportive team environment.
- Facilitate support groups, providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff to share their experiences and emotions.
- Provide follow-up support to bereaved individuals, offering guidance and resources to assist in positive expressions of grief.
- Master of Divinity or related field from an accredited school.
- One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or 2 years of relevant interfaith, in-home experience, or 2 years of relevant hospice experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Interfaith chaplain experience.
- Certification for Clinical Pastoral Education with curriculum in Crisis Management and Crisis Ministry.
The work environment for this role will involve frequent travel to patients' homes, hospitals, and other locations, requiring a valid driver's license and the ability to work in a variety of settings.

- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts.

- Basic math skills.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to use computers to input and retrieve information.
