Medical Assistant

Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. As a Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in our healthcare team, working closely with providers and staff to deliver high-quality patient services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, preparing for provider visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
- Prepares exam rooms for patients, ensuring cleanliness and availability of supplies.
- Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures, working under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals.
- Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
- Assists providers during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Educates patients on follow-up expectations, promoting patient engagement and empowerment.
- Maintains quality control testing logs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Assists patients with completion of medical documentation, ensuring accurate and timely recording of patient information.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Current National Certification as CMA required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Work Environment:
- Working closely with others in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Working protracted or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Working around biohazards and infectious diseases, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- May be required to travel between facilities, promoting flexibility and adaptability.
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring seamless collaboration with staff and patients.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments, prioritizing flexibility and adaptability.
- Proficiency in using and learning software applications, promoting technical skills and efficiency.
- Organizational and prioritization skills, ensuring timely completion of tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to work in both an independent and team setting, promoting collaboration and teamwork.
