Excavator Operator

Flippo Construction Company, Inc is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to support our underground utility projects.

• Operate excavators in a safe and efficient manner to perform activities such as excavating, backfilling, trenching, and ditching.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Assist in the identification and marking of utilities, if not already marked or defined.
• Perform daily greasing and cleaning of equipment.
• Change buckets and perform other routine maintenance tasks.
• Check and maintain equipment systems, including oil, battery, transmission, hydraulic systems, tires, radiators, tracks, and back-up alarms.
• Complete weekly equipment inspection reports and submit to supervisors.
• Report equipment breakdowns immediately and take direction from supervisors.
• Assist the crew in other useful work as directed, when the machine is not in use.
• Attend weekly tool-box talks and safety meetings.

• 2 years of prior experience operating an excavator in support of underground utility projects.
• Current DC Operators License.
• Knowledge of the machine, its correct method of operation, and limitations.
• Ability to perform physical tasks for a minimum of 8 hours per day, including negotiating rough terrain, climbing in and out of manholes and excavations, and carrying trade-associated tools and equipment.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
