Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Hawaii State Department of Education. As an Educational Assistant, you will provide paraprofessional support to students, teachers, and staff in a variety of settings, including classrooms, schools, and community programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and non-academic support to students, including tutoring, mentoring, and behavioral interventions.
  • Assist teachers and staff with lesson planning, instructional delivery, and student assessment.
  • Support students with disabilities, including those with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities.
  • Participate in school and community programs, including after-school activities, sports, and clubs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One year of experience working with students, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including students with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
