Educational Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Hawaii State Department of Education. As an Educational Assistant, you will provide paraprofessional support to students, teachers, and staff, and contribute to the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic and non-academic instructional support to students in a classroom setting, including tasks such as preparing materials, assisting with lessons, and supervising students.
- Assist teachers and special education staff in the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions, including developing and implementing individualized education plans.
- Provide support services to students with disabilities, including academic, social, vocational, and daily living instruction.
- Participate in counseling support services and activities for identified students, and serve as a member of the school support team.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- One year of experience in an educational setting, including experience working with students with disabilities.
- Ability to lift up to 65 pounds and/or lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Valid driver's license (some positions require).
- Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities.
- Knowledge of educational programs, goals, functions, and activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
