Medical Oncologist Position Overview

Role Summary: The Medical Oncologist will deliver exceptional, coordinated, and comprehensive care for patients within the realm of medical oncology and hematology. This role emphasizes teamwork and patient-centered approaches, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive medical oncology and hematologic care in both office and hospital settings.
  • Engage in academic medical education, training, and research initiatives.
  • Perform essential procedures including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and management of chemotherapy administration.
  • Conduct consultations for both outpatient and inpatient cases, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of various cancers.
  • Participate in tumor boards and departmental meetings to collaborate on patient care strategies.
  • Maintain effective communication with primary care and consulting physicians to ensure continuity of care.
  • Oversee the administration of chemotherapy and collaborate with other specialists on treatment plans.
  • Contribute to quality assurance programs and assist in maintaining clinic accreditations and certifications.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing medical education and participation in research projects.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine or equivalent certification.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA approved residency or fellowship program.
  • Possession of a current, unrestricted medical license in the State of Hawaii.
  • Board certification in Medical Oncology or eligibility for certification within two years of hire.
  • Experience post-residency is preferred.
