Position Summary:

The Building Engineer plays a crucial role in assisting management with the daily functionality of all building systems. Responsibilities encompass maintenance and repair of hard surfaces, basic carpentry, metal work, and the operation, upkeep, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on buildings, utilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Enhance the efficiency of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems through effective troubleshooting and repair practices.
  • Ensure continuous operation of equipment by diagnosing and resolving issues promptly.
  • Provide training and support to fellow engineering team members.
  • Promote a work environment focused on energy conservation and continuous improvement.
  • Document all relevant data in building logbooks and maintain accurate daily records.
  • Conduct tests on utilities and equipment as required.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes by accurately recording data on all equipment.
  • Complete administrative tasks in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Actively engage as a collaborative team member.
  • Commit to delivering high-quality service to tenants, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in regular communication with engineering leadership and other staff.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience aligned with the specific facility requirements.
  • A minimum of 3 years in an engineering role.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints effectively.
  • Possession of the highest-level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC, along with a universal refrigerant recovery license.
  • Proficient in computer skills and building automation systems.
  • Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training standards as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of energy conservation principles; formal training is preferred.
