POSITION OVERVIEW


The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of the construction cost management process. This includes the categorization, documentation, analysis, and monitoring of expenses and invoicing related to a significant construction endeavor, along with several smaller, less intricate projects.

This position ensures compliance from vendors to effectively manage project risks.

Assigned to a major construction initiative, this role collaborates closely with the Project Manager to guarantee precise and timely financial reporting and risk oversight throughout the project's duration.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly project invoices in accordance with contractual obligations.

2. Conduct financial assessments and reconciliations of project expenditures against the established budget.

3. Manage accounts payable for project-related expenses and subcontractor payments.

4. Oversee vendor compliance, including insurance verification, lien waivers, retention, and W-9 documentation.

5. Generate and evaluate job performance and profitability through detailed cost tracking reports.

6. Assist in the preparation of project status reports while maintaining accurate records of project statuses and budget data in COINs.

7. Identify and address both basic and complex accounting issues related to the project in a timely manner.

Qualifications for Success:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

- 3-5 years of experience in project accounting is preferred.

- Strong foundational knowledge in accounting principles.

- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

- Strong customer service orientation.

- Proficient analytical skills.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

- Proven capability to meet stringent deadlines and perform under pressure.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, at an intermediate to advanced level required.
