Design Manager Job Description

Wripple's large CPG client is seeking a seasoned Design Manager to lead design efforts for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role will report to the head of the Design Leadership team, responsible for fostering deeper connections with consumers through strategic design thinking and packaging design development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage creative and design project workflows efficiently within internal departments and external agency partners.
  • Support brand and category teams by developing a thorough understanding of our business and identifying ways to drive efficiency and increased value within the design process.
  • Apply strategic design thinking and develop best-in-class solutions for all creative brand activations, with a focus on Consumer Packaged Goods.
  • Ensure cohesion across all client consumer brands by consistently applying brand foundation tools to all creative channels.
  • Codify and creatively implement core Visual Identity System assets and master brand equities into all consumer touchpoints.
  • Foster collaboration and integrated teamwork, leveraging cross-category insights to promote creative excellence across all brands.
  • Collaborate with the Design Leadership team to evaluate and streamline creative project workflows and timelines, enhancing focus on strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and integrate new and emerging design trends & technologies that can influence the visual equities and storytelling of our brand portfolio.
  • Support the overall Design Leadership team, maintaining flexibility to pivot quickly and address urgent tasks and deliverables as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in design, both in agency and in-house settings, with a strong focus on consumer brands and CPG.
  • Highly organized with strong project management and workflow skills; experience with Adobe Workfront management software is preferred.
  • Experience in developing surface pattern designs for consumer brands is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the packaging production process, including the key steps from final design to commercialization.
  • Proficient presenter with the ability to pitch creative and strategic concepts, effectively influencing key internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with various groups across the organization and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Capability to inspire and guide both internal and external creative teams to develop compelling visual branding solutions.
  • Design portfolio showcasing exceptional strategic thinking and brand design, including case studies that demonstrate enhancing the consumer experience through design at all key touchpoints.
  • Ability to formulate and communicate a confident POV for design to assist and challenge key stakeholders in decision making.
