POSITION SUMMARY: The Faculty Member in Osteopathic Medicine is a highly skilled professional with extensive knowledge in all aspects of Osteopathic Medicine. The successful candidate will engage in various educational activities, including instructing courses in Osteopathic Principles and Practices, contributing to the History & Physical Examination curriculum, and facilitating problem-based learning (PBL) sessions. Additionally, this role includes advising medical students, participating in the admissions process, and supporting the college's mission through research and community service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following academic responsibilities may be assigned to the Faculty Member in Osteopathic Medicine:
  • Instruct in Clinical Examination courses;
  • Lead the OPP course;
  • Facilitate Problem-Based Learning sessions;
  • Supervise Simulation Lab activities as required;
  • Conduct interviews for prospective College of Medicine candidates;
  • Participate in committees and provide guidance to students and student organizations;
  • Engage in scholarly activities and/or research projects annually;
  • Develop educational materials, including audiovisual aids, demonstration models, and lectures;
  • Create clinical exercises that reflect real-world protocols and case-based learning;
  • Prepare lectures, small group discussions, and curate reading materials in collaboration with faculty;
  • Design evaluation tools to assess student performance and identify areas for improvement;
  • Attend approved team meetings focused on professional development;
  • Follow directives from the Associate Dean of Preclinical Education;
  • Draft detailed course syllabi outlining assignments and readings for both laboratory and discussion sessions;
  • Be available during assigned hours for student instruction and clinic development;
  • Contribute to overall student success through advising and monitoring outcomes;
  • Support the mission of the institution by participating in fundraising and scholarship initiatives;
  • Engage in scholarly activities to enhance the educational experience of students;
  • Represent the institution in the community through board service and outreach efforts; and
  • Accept additional duties as necessary to meet institutional needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Candidates must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and capabilities to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and experience equivalent to: D.O. or M.D. degree required; teaching experience in an academic setting with two to five (2-5) years of clinical practice preferred. A valid PA medical license or the ability to obtain one is required.
