We are in search of a knowledgeable Senior Tax Manager who possesses a robust background in tax provision and compliance for a large multinational consolidated entity to become part of the Tax Department. The Senior Tax Manager will have extensive expertise in tax accounting, compliance, and financial reporting standards. Responsibilities will include the preparation of the consolidated tax provision and oversight of the tax compliance operations within the department, which encompasses reviewing all federal, state, and local corporate tax documentation and returns, engaging with tax authorities, conducting research on tax-related topics, and managing various tax projects.
This position demands exceptional leadership capabilities, adeptness in handling intricate tax matters, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the tax provision preparation process and ensure accurate and timely reporting for a large multinational consolidated group in accordance with International Accounting Standards.
- Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated tax provisions, including adjustments, current and deferred tax calculations, uncertain tax positions, and valuation allowance assessments.
- Supervise the preparation and review of annual tax provisions and adjustments for tax shared service entities.
- Manage the preparation and review of consolidated, sub-consolidated, and individual corporate entities' federal, combined state, and separate state and local income tax documentation and returns, quarterly tax estimates, and return extensions.
- Evaluate quarterly intercompany tax allocations.
- Review pro forma federal and state tax returns for final intercompany tax allocations.
- Administer U.S. controlled group activities and data collection.
- Act as the company representative during tax audits and manage tax notifications.
- Provide technical direction and training to tax team members regarding tax provision and compliance.
- Establish best practices and processes for the tax department to ensure effective and efficient project completion.
- Conduct technical research and offer recommendations on tax-related issues.
- Assist the Senior Tax Director with various tax initiatives.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Taxation; a Master of Science in Taxation and CPA certification are preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive corporate tax experience in multinational consolidated tax compliance and financial reporting. A blend of Big 4 public accounting and experience in a large multinational corporation's tax department is preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource corporate tax software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Current knowledge of tax law changes as per the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, CARES Act, and Inflation Reduction Act.
- Strong comprehension of multinational and multi-state corporate tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the capability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to specific business scenarios.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical tax concepts to non-tax professionals effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Capability to lead teams and foster a collaborative work atmosphere.
