Position Overview:
Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is seeking a dedicated and growth-oriented Transportation Engineer to join our team in Columbus.

This role demands a proactive approach, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and mentor fellow staff members, engage in stimulating projects, and advance their career within FTCH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct traffic impact assessments, safety evaluations, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
  • Perform intersection and roadway traffic modeling.
  • Analyze roundabouts and evaluate geometric designs.
  • Develop Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans using traffic data.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Assist in the design and operation of traffic signals.
  • Engage with clients, including ODOT, local agencies, and other consulting firms.
  • Support the development of project budgets and schedules.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical proposals.
  • Oversee tasks and provide mentorship to junior staff.
  • Collaborate with transportation teams across various FTCH offices and industry peers.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional light lifting, sitting, and walking are required.

Fieldwork will necessitate accessing and navigating project sites, along with computer usage. Travel to project locations is essential, and effective communication and documentation skills are necessary.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with ITE Trip Generation Manual and traffic studies is essential.
  • Knowledge of ODOT traffic standards and guidelines is advantageous.
  • Experience with software such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Vissim, Rodel, and MicroStation is preferred.
  • Strong computer and verbal communication skills are a must.
