Position Overview
The Clinical Dietitian Specialist plays a crucial role in orchestrating and executing initiatives related to patient nutrition management, adhering to the guidelines set forth by Aramark, regulatory bodies, and client expectations.
This professional is also responsible for cultivating and maintaining productive interdisciplinary collaborations within their area of expertise to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in both inpatient and outpatient care as required.
- Lead the formulation and execution of nutrition intervention strategies aligned with the Nutrition Care Process.
- Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments for a patient demographic that may exhibit elevated acuity levels, prioritizing care within the specialized certification area.
- Evaluate educational requirements and identify potential barriers to learning. Provide tailored nutrition counseling for individuals and groups, adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse patient learning needs.
- Utilize assessment and evaluation methodologies that respect the varied needs of age-specific populations, as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic considerations.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up in line with patient treatment objectives, making referrals for outpatient counseling, community resources, or home health services as necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to achieve shared goals and explore innovative strategies to reduce hospital stay durations and minimize readmission rates.
- Document nutrition care plans in the patient's medical records accurately and promptly, including assessments, diagnoses, plans, implementations, and progress toward established goals.
- Maintain clinical efficiency standards and precise records of daily clinical activities, including scheduling and billing information.
- Demonstrate responsibility for the proper handling of protected health information of patients.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of experience in Nutritional Support.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
- At least 24 months of clinical practice experience in the relevant specialty field is necessary.
- Current certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) is mandatory.
- Maintain dietetic registration, state-required credentials, specialty certifications, and continuing education obligations.
- Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or foodservice corporation, or in conjunction with undergraduate or graduate studies.
- Successful completion of a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
