Job Summary

The Transplant Nutrition Specialist at Baylor Scott & White Health plays a vital role in researching the nutritional requirements of patients with complicated medical conditions. This involves developing care plans, providing nutrition therapy and education to patients, families, and community, and evaluating patient dietary needs. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nutrition or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian (RD).

Key Responsibilities

Perform nutritional assessments of patients with complicated medical conditions using advanced biochemical, clinical, and anthropometric data.
Provide 1-on-1 and/or group nutrition counseling on complex diets requiring combination of restrictions.
Assess factors affecting dietary compliance, including socio-economic factors, past history, family dynamics, etc.
Establish and implement dietary plans, providing information on fitness and exercise as related to weight management and diet.
Document pertinent information in appropriate medical records and monitor patient to establish need for appropriate modification in nutritional management.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Nutrition or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian (RD).
Current knowledge of nutrition services functions through reading literature, attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and participating in professional organizations.
