A Day in the Life of a Customer Care Representative I

As a Customer Care Representative I, your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks associated with customer service for former residents, billing inquiries, and collections. Your focus will be on fostering positive relationships with residents by delivering exemplary service, particularly during the move-out process. This includes managing outstanding balances, addressing billing inquiries, ensuring prompt responses to resident requests and concerns, and collaborating with relevant staff to facilitate effective issue resolution. You will also work closely with revenue accountants to reconcile delinquent accounts, resolve overdue balances, collect payments, and process account adjustments.

Your Responsibilities Include:

Customer Service:

  • Engage with residents through various communication channels to address billing inquiries and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Respond to and manage resident concerns, coordinating with appropriate staff to resolve communication issues.
  • Promote positive resident relations by ensuring timely responses to concerns and requests, in line with Liberty Military Housing standards.
  • Assist residents with collection issues, review and process account adjustments, and resolve disputes.
  • Utilize the call center system to manage live calls, handle callbacks/voicemails, transfer calls, and update call records.
  • Support residents during the move-out process, including managing move-out accounting and preparing delinquency letters.

Debt Collection:

  • Collaborate with revenue accountants to efficiently reconcile delinquent accounts.
  • Manage collections, resolve overdue balances, and negotiate payment plans as necessary.
  • Follow up on outstanding balances, addressing discrepancies to minimize delinquency for assigned accounts.
  • Prepare documentation for third-party collection agencies in accordance with company policies.

Data Entry and Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of customer accounts and update information as required.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including email communications and data entry into relevant software systems.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, community events, and other work-related activities.

Qualifications:

What You Need for Success:

  • 6 months of experience in accounts receivable or collections is required.
  • Proficiency in personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively over the phone.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with residents, management, and colleagues.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
