Park Senior Villas Activities Director Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and innovative Activities Director to join our team at Park Senior Villas in La Canada. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and implementing life-enriching programs and events that provide socialization opportunities, fitness and wellness activities, educational and recreational programs, and spiritual life support based on the needs and preferences of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement daily activities for residents, including socialization opportunities, fitness and wellness activities, educational and recreational programs, and spiritual life support.
  • Train onsite caregivers on how to implement activity programs and provide activities in respective villas to ensure residents benefit from activities and socialization.
  • Provide a 7-day week activity program that is appropriate for all levels of care.
  • Encourage residents who have no or low participation.
  • Interview residents to determine their past and present interests and talents, as well as their satisfaction with the community's programs and activities.
  • Observe residents' functions and behaviors and report significant changes or concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Perform work tasks in a manner that preserves each resident's dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Utilize outside community resources and independent contractors to enrich the variety of programs made available to residents.
  • Manage monthly budget.
  • Document and maintain all records as required to effectively manage the department.
  • Secure and maintain all department supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and distribute the resident newsletter/calendar and other lifestyle programming communications on a regular and monthly basis conforming to company's standards.
  • Maintain appropriate schedules to ensure proper coverage.
  • Work cooperatively with all other departments in planning shared events.
  • Build a robust volunteer database to ensure a variety of monthly programming.
  • Maintain an inviting, functional, and organized program area, including appropriate and seasonal decoration of display areas.
  • Manage recreation program effectively.
  • Efficiently manage time daily so that department staff, including self, is spending equal amounts of time with all cognitive levels of residents.
  • Organize and carry out or delegate activity training, Dementia Educations Seminars (to families and public), and Monthly Support Groups as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Experience as an Activities Director or Assistant Activities Director in a memory care and assisted living care setting; or has completed an accredited activities program.
  • Director/Supervisor: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Activities/Recreation: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Dementia/Alzheimer's: 2 years (Preferred)
  • High School or GED
