Full-Time OR Nurse Position (32-40 hours/week)

We are looking for dedicated individuals with a strong work ethic to provide exceptional care for patients in an operating room environment. Our organization fosters a collaborative atmosphere where team members excel in a dynamic ambulatory surgery center. We offer flexible scheduling options, including both part-time and full-time roles, covering operational hours from Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are no night shifts, weekends, or on-call duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate as a team member to support the comprehensive perioperative process.
  2. Efficiently manage time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for effective case management.
  3. Oversee and direct patient care within a designated operating room.
  4. Organize nursing activities to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
  5. Delegate tasks appropriately based on the capabilities of available staff.
  6. Utilize supplies economically while maintaining effective turnover times.
  7. Assist with inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels.
  8. Address patient needs during the admission process, focusing on outpatient requirements.
  9. Safely transport patients to the operating room, adhering to established policies and safety protocols.
  10. Verify patient identity and the correct surgical procedure in accordance with policies.
  11. Review medical records to coordinate care with the healthcare team.
  12. Provide comfort and reassurance to patients throughout their experience.
  13. Maintain patient privacy and dignity at all times.
  14. Explain the intraoperative process and care to patients.
  15. Perform the duties of a circulating nurse, following approved operating room protocols.
  16. Prepare the operating room according to the specific needs of the procedure.
  17. Ensure all equipment and supplies are functioning properly before the procedure begins.
  18. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist anesthesia personnel as required.
  19. Support safe patient positioning and prepare the operative site as directed.
  20. Monitor adherence to aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
  21. Assist in confirming the operative site and patient identification.
  22. Ensure a comfortable physical environment by monitoring necessary parameters.
  23. Facilitate continuity of care by communicating effectively with other perioperative staff.
  24. Respond promptly to the needs of patients and physicians.
  25. Accurately interpret and document verbal orders and patient care records.
  26. Provide updates on patient status to other care team members.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  3. Active RN license in Alaska.
  4. Current CPR certification.
  5. Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  6. Strong ethical and moral character references.
  7. Proficient language skills for effective communication in American English.
