Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as a team member to support the complete perioperative process.
- Manage time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for effective case management.
- Oversee and direct patient care within a single operating room.
- Organize nursing activities for optimal efficiency.
- Delegate tasks based on the skills of available staff.
- Practice cost containment by utilizing supplies judiciously.
- Assist with inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Address patient needs during the admission process, focusing on outpatient requirements.
- Transport patients to the operating room while adhering to safety protocols.
- Confirm patient identity and surgical procedure in accordance with policies.
- Review medical records to coordinate care with healthcare team members.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to patients.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity at all times.
- Explain the intraoperative phase of procedures to patients.
- Fulfill the role of circulating nurse by following established operating room protocols.
- Prepare the operating room in accordance with the specific procedure requirements.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are functioning properly before procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist anesthesia personnel.
- Support safe patient positioning and prepare the operative site as directed.
- Monitor adherence to aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
- Assist in identifying and confirming the operative site.
- Ensure patient comfort by monitoring environmental parameters.
- Facilitate continuity of care through effective communication and documentation.
- Respond promptly to the needs of patients and physicians.
- Accurately interpret and execute verbal orders.
- Document patient care accurately in compliance with policies.
- Provide relevant updates to other care team members regarding patient status.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Active RN license in Alaska.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Strong ethical and moral character references.
- Proficient language skills for effective communication in American English.
