Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at Oak Orchard Community Health Center. As a key member of our dental team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Provide warm and welcoming greetings to patients, ensuring a positive experience from the moment they arrive.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Assisting Techniques
    • Assist dentists and dental hygienists in providing oral care to patients, ensuring accurate and efficient treatment.
    • Prepare and process dental materials, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Radiographs
    • Take high-quality radiographs as ordered, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
    • Mount and print radiographs accurately, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Dental Record
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
    • Review health history, take vital signs, and document patient complaints and radiographs taken.
  • NYSDOH and OSHA Guidelines
    • Adhere to annual in-service programs on hazardous substances and infection control.
    • Properly handle hazardous substances, infectious waste, and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and disinfecting operatories, autoclaving, and restocking supplies.
    • Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly work environment, adhering to infection control and sterilization policies.
  • Communication/Participation
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
    • Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities, contributing to the growth and development of our team.
Requirements
  • Education/Experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • Completion of a recognized dental assisting program preferred.
    • Prior dental assisting experience preferred.
  • Skills/Qualifications
    • Basic computer literacy required.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
