Position Summary: The Quality Engineer Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our quality standards and objectives are met. This position focuses on both internal quality measures and customer satisfaction, addressing problem resolution, documentation, and change management. Additionally, the role emphasizes leadership in the continuous enhancement of team operations within designated manufacturing departments, coordinating closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and analyze areas for quality improvement, proposing effective solutions and implementing approved changes while adhering to quality principles.
  • Facilitate ongoing improvement and knowledge sharing across departments through training and communication of quality initiatives.
  • Lead the adoption of software solutions for recording inspection data, moving towards a paperless documentation system.
  • Engage in quality audits to pinpoint and rectify deficiencies in production and quality systems.
  • Proactively report potential issues to management to ensure objectives are met.
  • Guarantee that quality standards are consistently achieved and enhanced within internal manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct various internal quality and process audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards.
  • Perform layered process audits to drive continuous improvement in quality and production.
  • Carry out inspections of parts prior to production approval.
  • Verify prototype parts for critical dimensions before shipment.
  • Establish and oversee incoming inspection processes.
  • Manage the gauge calibration program and assist technicians with calibration across the facility.
  • Conduct in-process inspections as necessary.
  • Support laboratory equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Review and maintain controlled copies of component drawings from Product Engineering.
  • Assist suppliers with measurement techniques.
  • Perform annual layout inspections as required by customer specifications.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a quality-focused role is highly preferred.
  • Experience in an industrial or automotive environment is essential.
  • Proficiency in CMM programming, measurement and testing equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, and blueprint reading including GD&T is required.
