WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Fully licensed to conduct radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • State licensure in Pennsylvania is also required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is essential.
  • Must provide a certified or photocopied version of the current license.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is mandatory, in line with the standards of the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Proof of graduation from an accredited radiology technology program is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct routine radiologic examinations as requested by medical personnel for the inmate population.
  • Electronically transmit and retrieve X-ray images and reports, ensuring proper documentation in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Receive training to manage radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule necessary procedures.
  • Engage with a diverse inmate population, respecting various cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Assess radiographic equipment for necessary calibrations and repairs.
  • Maintain knowledge of potential emergency situations during specialized radiographic procedures.
  • Organize examination schedules and maintain accurate records.
  • Demonstrate understanding of various pathological conditions as evidenced by radiographic imaging.
  • Independently determine technical exposure factors and positions to achieve high-quality diagnostic results.
  • Perform all types of radiographic procedures, including chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable X-rays.
  • Alert the Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities observed during examinations.
  • Facilitate the transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to complete monitoring and evaluation tasks.
  • Act as a liaison between the radiologist and medical staff.
  • Undergo training and orientation to comply with correctional medical service protocols.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of local medical protocols.
  • Adhere to universal precautions and wear appropriate protective clothing at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as required for a Radiology Technician.
  • Manage the computerization and printing of daily logs and exam requisitions.
  • Prepare and transport X-rays for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Assist staff with equipment and supply maintenance, notifying when supplies are low.
  • Conduct quality assurance tests and perform daily maintenance on X-ray equipment as necessary.
  • Support FDA inspections and prepare for TJC and program reviews as needed.
  • Ensure all X-ray requests are accurately completed.
  • Manage the computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis.
