Job Description

The State of Florida is seeking a highly skilled Database Consultant to join our team in the Office of Full Time Equivalent/Class Size (FTE/CS). As a Database Consultant, you will play a critical role in facilitating K-12 school data collections and reporting for both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical work involving the analysis, development, design, and implementation of comprehensive management information systems and/or integrated subsystems within the Bureau of PK-12 Education Information Services (EIS).
  • Prepare, provide, and disseminate quality products representative of the Department's commitment to quality, efficient services, and practices.
  • Develop computer programs in Statistical Analysis System (SAS) following detailed specifications and departmental standards.
  • Participate in the development of procedures for user training and operation of management information systems.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all information technology staff and customers.
  • Display a professional attitude when interacting with information technology staff and customers.
  • Possess the ability to acquire technical and subject matter expertise.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in systems analysis and/or computer programming.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one year of experience as described above.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one year of experience as described above.
  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems.
  • Four years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven analytical and coding experience in SAS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
