Role Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process, which includes evaluating, processing, and interpreting the company's operational expenses. This role plays a crucial part in the monthly closing and financial reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Management:

  • Serve as the primary contact for vendors concerning invoicing and payment inquiries.
  • Examine and process invoices for timely payment.
  • Facilitate communication between store operations and the Shared Services Center.
  • Execute SOX compliance controls as required.
  • Conduct monthly invoice assessments.
  • Analyze aging exceptions.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in quarterly and annual audits by gathering necessary documentation and conducting research.

Month-End Closing Duties:

  • Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and make necessary journal entries.
  • Analyze expense variances for reporting.
  • Generate month-end work papers that reflect key financial metrics for the reporting package.
  • Analyze month-end bank activities.
Qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Experience in dealership accounting is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong commitment to financial accuracy and diligence.
  • Proven track record of success in collaborative environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is advantageous.
