Job Summary

This role involves providing safe, competent nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. As a Surgical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient flow and optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate care plans utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain professional behavior, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Assess risks to patient safety and implement appropriate precautions to mitigate harm.
  • Comply with regulatory standards, organizational policies, and clinical guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • A current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, obtained prior to start date and maintained throughout employment.
  • PALS certification within 3 months of hire, preferred but not required.
  • De-escalation training completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies.
