Columbia University seeks a highly skilled Energy Management Director to join its Facilities Department. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Engineering, this position will oversee the management of central supervisory control systems for university buildings and drive the university's energy master plan and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement an energy metering program to track energy use for individual campus buildings and identify opportunities for energy reduction projects.
- Lead the development of energy projects from initial survey through project justification, funding, execution, and verification of energy savings.
- Ensure that the University receives the best value for its capital dollars for HVAC controls on new construction and renovation projects, and that existing controls are operating at optimum efficiency.
- Grow and lead the Energy and Sustainability program to reach carbon reduction goals, establishing and coordinating communication of goals, best practices, and accomplishments.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience.
- Understanding of commercial HVAC building controls, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Analytical skills to acquire energy data, analyze it, and develop energy reduction strategies.
- Understanding of engineering economics to determine project economic benefits and costs.
