Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Energy Project Manager to join our Building Optimization Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the design and development of energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects, collaborating with stakeholders to identify potential project opportunities, and leading the implementation of energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design and development of energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify potential project opportunities
  • Lead the implementation of energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects
  • Perform site visits to monitor progress and evaluate completed milestones
  • Refine proposed scopes of work and ensure project compliance with contract and specification documents
  • Manage project-related documentation and assess potential risks and resolve technical project issues
  • Coordinate and ensure a uniform approach to project tracking and documentation
  • Perform data collection and tracking necessary to ensure accurate project reporting
  • Lead and/or support reporting of project progress and milestones to agency energy team, agency leadership, and/or other City stakeholders
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the overall project lifecycle
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in architecture or architectural technology, biology, building science, chemistry, construction management, energy management, engineering, engineering technology, environmental science, facilities management, physics, or a related field
  • Completion of an apprentice program, a minimum of two years in length, in a construction trade with an emphasis on energy efficiency for buildings and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience in energy generation or conservation work
  • Four years of satisfactory, full-time experience in energy generation or conservation work
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above
Preferred Skills
  • At least three years of experience in energy management, facilities management, commissioning, or mechanical construction project management
  • Strong understanding of building energy systems and energy efficiency technologies
  • Experience with the design and construction of energy efficiency retrofit projects in existing buildings
  • Familiarity with cost estimating, building/system commissioning, testing, adjusting, and balancing
  • Familiarity with project management operations, including project planning, scope development, contractor management, design and construction management, and project close-out
  • Familiarity with life cycle cost analysis
