Job Overview

The Drawing 2 Operator is a critical role responsible for coordinating, setting up, and operating the drawing machine to produce high-quality copper wire from feeder stock. This medium-skill position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the multiwire drawing machine to produce wire of various sizes and lengths.
  • Load and unload sets of bobbins/reels, ensuring correct inventory and maintaining a layer wound package.
  • Make high-quality hot-welds and kold-welds in feeder stock to ensure continuous machine operation.
  • Monitor and adjust machine controls to produce quality wire at specified production speeds.
  • Coordinate material handling with lift drivers to ensure a continuous production process.
  • Measure elongation of each wire on each take-up package to ensure proper annealing.
  • String up dies for wire-size changeovers and breakouts, and examine wire to detect potential causes of breakouts.
  • Perform quality checks and minor maintenance as outlined in the process procedures for the machine.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
