Job Overview

Position: Private Equity Business Development Analyst

Location: San Mateo, CA (On-site)

Compensation: Competitive base salary complemented by performance-driven bonuses and commissions. (OTE $130K-$200K +)

The Kostelic Agency, in collaboration with a prominent private equity firm, is pleased to present an opportunity for a Private Equity Business Development Analyst.

This esteemed client specializes in investing in high-growth, self-sustaining companies within the technology and business services sectors. They engage with dedicated owners seeking a reliable institutional partner to help realize and accelerate their strategic vision.

What sets our client apart is their independent deal sourcing approach, concentrating on themes such as profitable enterprises with a service-oriented component. Recently, they have been investigating sectors like language translation services, AI-driven companies, and water technology solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess new investment prospects across B2B software, tech-enabled services, managed services, and industrial technology.
  • Perform market research and analysis to uncover emerging trends, craft compelling investment theses, and pinpoint potential investment opportunities.
  • Initiate outreach and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, executives, intermediaries, and other relevant professionals to enhance deal flow and sourcing capabilities.
  • Evaluate financial statements and other business metrics to assess the viability of potential investments.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline targeting both platform investments and add-on acquisitions, utilizing CRM software to monitor progress and key metrics.
  • Provide analytical support and insights to senior investment professionals, including the preparation of investment committee memos and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of M&A processes, including sourcing and deal structuring.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a financial services organization (preferably with a background in private equity, investment banking, or relevant sales/business development experience).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and internal team members.
  • Creative mindset with a thoughtful and resourceful approach to developing deal flow.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and an entrepreneurial spirit.
