Job Overview

Rome Memorial Hospital is looking for a Finance Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Controller. The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in:

  • Overseeing and guiding a team of financial analysts responsible for comprehensive financial analysis and reporting for the hospital.
  • Managing all facets of data collection and reconciliation related to the preparation of the New York State Institutional Cost Report and Medicare Cost Report.
  • Leading the preparation of data and forecasts included in the hospital's Annual Budget.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of all necessary surveys for the hospital, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reporting, and contributing to the Finance reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Supporting the hospital's 990 tax filing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a member of the hospital leadership team; leading the analysts, ensuring appropriate resource allocation to meet deadlines, complete required reporting, and promote team development.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the hospital's business intelligence reporting, including Management and Productivity Reporting.
  • Utilizing hospital data to generate reports and analyze information for departmental profit and loss assessments.
  • Directing and managing the completion of Institutional Cost Report exhibits.
  • Completing required surveys and hospital reporting, including:
    • Profit & Loss Statements — maintained on a timely basis.
    • Budget revenue modeling, managing the annual budget process, including volume-based adjustments to revenue projections.
    • Supporting hospital audit requirements.
    • Conducting financial scenarios (i.e., what-if analyses, new services).
    • Assisting with reimbursement and ROI analysis.
    • Performing additional functions for the Finance Department as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in hospital finance, financial analytics, or business intelligence is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

A solid understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, budgeting, and reimbursement practices is essential. Familiarity with office terminology, procedures, and equipment is necessary. An understanding of third-party reimbursement from governmental and other insurers is important. Proficiency in financial accounting systems, finance/billing systems, and database management is required. Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical abilities, and computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel), are crucial. Candidates must demonstrate problem-solving capabilities and decisive leadership.
