Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for coordinating and participating in various technical procedures involving radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and participate in in vivo and in vitro studies, operating radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices and scintillation gamma apparatus.
  • Calibrate and prepare radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients, formulating materials from pre-prepared kits.
  • Calibrate instruments, review calibration data, and detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
  • Calculate data, including results of patient studies and radioactive decay, and evaluate recorded images for technical quality.
  • Process computerized image data, including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients of all ages during examinations, initiating life support measures as necessary.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual quality control on nuclear imaging equipment and hot lab equipment.
  • Monitor the Nuclear Medicine Department for possible contamination using a portable survey meter.
  • Ensure compliance with ICANL accreditation standards, NC Department of Radiation Protection, and JACHO standards.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures and techniques, consulting with physicians on the application of nuclear medicine procedures.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with experience in Cardiology.
Work Environment

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
