Job Overview

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Engagement Coordinator to join our Education and Learning Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in promoting access to education for refugee students and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the enrollment of school-aged refugee students into local schools, including transportation and support with online enrollment applications.
  • Design and implement weekly school orientation workshops for newcomer families and students to facilitate a smooth transition into the US education system.
  • Conduct pre- and post-assessments to evaluate caregiver understanding of US school attendance and participation requirements.
  • Collaborate with school districts to identify key contacts, facilitate enrollment, and collect feedback to improve IRC's partnerships.
  • Provide systems navigation and support to families, using interpretation services as needed, to enhance students' engagement and academic success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in an educational or social services setting, with a focus on family engagement or youth case management.
  • Strong understanding of the US education system, refugee rights, and individual advocacy.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and languages, with a focus on refugee and immigrant populations.
