The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Engagement Coordinator to join our Education and Learning Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in promoting access to education for refugee students and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the enrollment of school-aged refugee students into local schools, including transportation and support with online enrollment applications.
- Design and implement weekly school orientation workshops for newcomer families and students to facilitate a smooth transition into the US education system.
- Conduct pre- and post-assessments to evaluate caregiver understanding of US school attendance and participation requirements.
- Collaborate with school districts to identify key contacts, facilitate enrollment, and collect feedback to improve IRC's partnerships.
- Provide systems navigation and support to families, using interpretation services as needed, to enhance students' engagement and academic success.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or a related field of study.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in an educational or social services setting, with a focus on family engagement or youth case management.
- Strong understanding of the US education system, refugee rights, and individual advocacy.
- Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and languages, with a focus on refugee and immigrant populations.
The IRC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 403(b) retirement savings plan with a 4.5% immediate vesting matching contribution. Full-time employees also receive 10 paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, and an Employee Assistance Program for mental health support.
