Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to patients and their families within the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric unit. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough admission assessments in accordance with unit policies, utilizing past medical history, effective communication, and physical evaluations.
- Identifying nursing diagnoses and collaborative issues to establish suitable interventions that align with accepted care standards.
- Initiating and documenting discharge and transfer planning while facilitating patient-centered communication and care.
- Managing patient care responsibilities by organizing workloads and adapting to changes as necessary.
- Communicating professionally and effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Ensuring that care plans are consistent with nursing standards and hospital policies.
- Engaging in quality assurance initiatives to assess and enhance patient care.
- Participating in professional development activities to maintain accountability for nursing practice.
- Contributing to staff meetings, committees, and special projects to support the quality and development of Acute Care.
- Collaborating with and delegating tasks to ancillary/support staff as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Current registration with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
- Preferred clinical experience in acute Med/Surg/Peds Nursing, with the ability to care for adult or geriatric patients with orthopedic, general medical, and surgical conditions.
- Proficiency in assessing the unique needs of adult/geriatric or pediatric patients and formulating appropriate care plans.
