Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Service: Greet and engage guests while delivering top-notch service and presentation.
  • Order Taking and Service: Take orders, utilizing product knowledge and suggestive selling techniques. Enter orders into POS system accurately; track tabs, charges, etc. for end of shift reconciliation.
  • Food and Beverage Service: Serve food and beverages in a friendly, efficient manner according to HYATT Hotels standards.
  • Bar Maintenance: Pre-bus/bus dirty glassware, dishes, and other items quickly; keep bar and public areas neat, clean, and free of debris at all times.
  • Leadership and Training: Train servers and new bartenders on proper bar procedures, new spirits and cocktails. Lead tasting and cocktail/spirit presentations to upper management and special groups.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Menu Maintenance: Create, prepare and maintain house-made syrups, shrubs, tinctures and bitters. Menu maintenance and formatting.
  • Support and Assistance: Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.
  • Creative Contributions: Creatively assists other bar outlets in The Carolina Inn in special events, cocktail creation, and general education of new spirits on property.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Help to create, adjust and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP's) for bar staff, helping to achieve efficiency and top-quality output in their roles.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma (or GED). Additional training/certification(s) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience bartending, preferably in an upscale or fine dining environment. Preferred candidates would have at least 1-2 years of experience crafting and creating their own cocktails (with or without a portfolio). Ideal candidates will have at least one (1) year of bar management experience.
  • Certifications: Level 1 sommelier and cicerone certification preferred (possible opportunity to attain upon employment).
  • Skills: Strong spirit and classic cocktail knowledge. Ability to research and stay in touch with current liquor and cocktail trends. Some experience in using percentages and pricing menu items based on cost and spirit rarity.
  • Personal Qualities: Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills; must be able to engage with wide variety of guests and interact in a friendly and professional manner. Proactive; exercises good judgment; can creatively problem solve and anticipate needs of guests; keen attention to detail with a focus on quality and service.
