Position Overview
PIMCO is in search of a Municipal Credit Research Analyst to bolster the growth of our tax-exempt asset management. This role is situated in a dynamic environment, collaborating closely with Portfolio Managers and fellow analysts specializing in tax-exempt and corporate credit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage specific sectors within U.S. public finance, focusing on high-yield asset classes.
  • Develop financial forecasts emphasizing debt sustainability and formulate independent credit assessments.
  • Evaluate political climates and their implications on credit fundamentals.
  • Analyze potential shifts in tax regulations and accounting practices affecting municipal issuers.
  • Deliver comprehensive investment recommendations to both tax-exempt and taxable portfolio managers.
  • Proactively generate and share investment insights with portfolio managers.
  • Create detailed reports and presentations as necessary.
  • Engage with clients or client service teams as required.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including corporate credit analysts, to identify cross-asset investment opportunities.

Qualifications
  • 5-15 years of relevant experience in Public Finance credit analysis, including roles in federal agencies or major state/municipal treasurer offices.
  • Extensive background in municipal high-yield asset classes and experience with distressed municipal or corporate situations.
  • Familiarity with sectors such as MSA/tobacco, assisted living, student housing, and retail is advantageous.
  • Strong academic credentials; MBA, JD, or CFA preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of global fixed income products, encompassing both tax-exempt and taxable instruments.
  • Solid grasp of fixed income mathematics, supported by a background in statistics or economics.
  • Ability to make informed judgments regarding credit, risk, and valuation.
  • Market insight that enables appropriate depth of analysis for individual credits.
  • Experience in managing tasks with minimal supervision and making timely decisions with incomplete information.
  • Effective communicator with strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Passion for credit analysis as a long-term career and appreciation for seeing investment ideas implemented.
