Position Title: Building Engineer - Union - Day Shift
Role Overview:
The Building Engineer is accountable for the efficient operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the facility. This role requires physical capability to handle heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions. The engineer will respond to service requests and take prompt action to address emergencies or system failures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, including air handling units, pumps, and motors.
- Execute electrical circuit installations and perform plumbing repairs.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils in air handling units to ensure optimal performance.
- Oversee routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities, including filter changes and lubrication.
- Document inspections and maintenance activities, reporting findings to supervisors.
- Perform minor carpentry and electrical tasks as needed.
- Maintain and operate emergency generators and associated systems.
- Procure necessary materials for repairs and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
- Certification in relevant mechanical trades or trade school in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or related fields.
- A minimum of five years of experience in managing central plant equipment and building systems.
- Possession of a valid State of New Jersey Black Seal License.
- Proven experience in maintaining and repairing building auxiliary systems.
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license as required for operational duties.
Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday
