Job Title: Controls Hardware Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Hardware Designer to join our team at ACL Digital. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating electrical drawing packages for various types of equipment and machinery, both from scratch and using customer standards and templates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create electrical drawing packages for different types of equipment and machinery
  • Design control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical or Eplan
  • Ensure the completeness of hardware design prior to build, reducing debug project phases
  • Perform calculations for load, heat, and power, including transfer loads for transformers
  • Familiar with ARC Flash calculations and safety concepts
  • Understand and follow standards and specifications for controls hardware design
  • Provide accurate Bill of Materials as part of design
  • Support manufacturing during startup and integration phase
  • Generate machine lockout placards based on end-user specifications
Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical/engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of relevant controls hardware design experience
  • Strong experience designing control panel layouts with AutoCAD Electrical or Eplan
  • Prior experience leading small teams is a plus
  • PLC Programming experience is helpful but not required

We are looking for a long-term strategic need for our team, and we want someone who can eventually get hired onto our staff. If you have both AutoCAD Electrical and Eplan experience, it's highly preferred. You should be able to do control panel layouts and design electrical schematics for automation controls systems from scratch without assistance. This is a 100% in-office position with no option for remote/hybrid work.
