Civista Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mortgage Lender to join our team. As a key member of our mortgage lending department, you will be responsible for originating first mortgage loans, promoting the bank's lending services, and identifying and serving the community's financial needs.
Key Responsibilities- Originate first mortgage loans and promote the bank's lending services to the real estate community and referral partners.
- Travel to solicit loans and meet with customers and prospective customers at various locations.
- Complete loan applications and pre-processing functions, including obtaining necessary documentation from prospective clients.
- Inform clients of the bank's underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
- Screen loan requests based on bank policies and loan types.
- Propose and review loan options with clients.
- Research new legislation and regulations affecting residential lending policies and ensure compliance.
- Communicate complex approvals or denials to clients, real estate agents, or builders.
- Distribute market data, rate flyers, and loan information to the real estate community.
- Promote and participate in the bank's special credit programs and CRA initiatives.
- Actively participate in local business and community activities and maintain close contact with local builders, real estate brokers, and agents.
- Five+ years of mortgage lending experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance or three years of equivalent work experience.
- Above-average knowledge of banking industry practices, policies, regulations, and laws related to mortgage lending.
- Solid working knowledge of bank compliance requirements and Fair Lending laws and regulations.
- Solid computer literacy with accurate data entry skills and proficiency in spreadsheet software.
- A high level of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- High level of confidentiality required.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with varied deadlines.
- This position requires frequent travel to solicit loans and meet with clients.
- Work involves eye strain due to computer screen use and reading reports.
- Work involves concentration in distracting work conditions.
- Work involves lifting and moving loan files up to 15 lbs.
- Some travel is required for meetings, trainings, and real estate office visits.
