Lead Data Science Innovation at Capital One National Association

Data is the core of everything we do. As a leading financial institution, we revolutionized the credit card industry with personalized offers using advanced statistical modeling and database technology. Fast-forwarding to the present, our passion for data has propelled us to a Fortune 200 company, driving data-driven decision-making globally.

As a Principal Data Scientist at Capital One National Association, you'll be part of a pioneering team that's pushing the boundaries of disruption on a massive scale. Leveraging cutting-edge computing and machine learning technologies, we operate across billions of customer records to unlock opportunities that empower everyday people to save time, money, and effort in their financial lives.

About Our Team:

The Recommendation & Personalization team within AI Foundations creates state-of-the-art scalable AI/ML solutions for Capital One's award-winning mobile app, website, emails, and other digital channels. We collaborate with product, tech, and design teams to deliver features that delight customers with personalized recommendations and experiences. You will be the driving force behind experimenting, innovating, and crafting next-generation experiences powered by the latest emerging AI/ML technologies. Our areas of research include reinforcement learning, recommender systems, causal inference, and multi-objective learning with transformers.

In this Role:

  1. You will partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to develop products that customers adore.
  2. Leverage a comprehensive stack of technologies — Python, AWS, Pyspark, Nvidia Rapids / Merlin / Triton, and more — to uncover insights hidden within vast volumes of numeric and textual data.
  3. Develop machine learning models through all phases of development, from conception through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
  4. Foster your interpersonal skills to translate the complexity of your work into tangible business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Customer-centricity: You are passionate about analyzing and creating, but also prioritize doing the right thing for our customers.
  • Innovative thinking: Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies, staying current on published state-of-the-art methods, technologies, and applications.
  • Creativity: Bring definition to complex problems, ask questions, and drive answers forward.
  • Leadership: Challenge conventional thinking, work with stakeholders to identify and improve the status quo, and foster talent development within your team.
  • Technical expertise: Comfortable with open-source languages and eager to expand your skills further. Experience in developing data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
  • Statistical acumen: Built models, validated them, and backtested them. Proficient in interpreting a confusion matrix or ROC curve, with experience in clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning.
  • Data mastery: Not intimidated by 'big data.' Skilled in retrieving, combining, and analyzing data from diverse sources and structures, recognizing understanding the data often unlocks great data science.

Salary Range: $174,900 - $199,700 per annum (dependent on location)

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package supporting your total well-being, including health, financial, and other incentives.
