Our Community Team

The Community Team is a crucial pillar that makes Twitch, Twitch. This team is responsible for various product areas affecting the creator, viewer, and moderator experiences on our platform. As a member of our team, you'll develop solutions that enhance the experiences of millions of daily active users and create tools that keep both streamers and viewers engaged and connected.

Data-Driven Decision Making

Data plays a central role in Twitch's decision-making processes, and data scientists are critical in promoting data-driven decision making across all operations. As a data scientist at Twitch, you will be part of a pioneering team shaping how product performance is measured, defining key questions, and scaling analytics methods and tools to support our growing business.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced product data scientist to help develop strategies and evaluate/improve product initiatives within our Creator product team. Your responsibilities will include defining and tracking KPIs, designing experiments, evaluating A/B tests, implementing data instrumentation, and informing investment decisions. You'll work closely with product managers, technical program managers, engineers, data scientists, and organizational leadership within and outside the Creator organization.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Inform product strategies by defining and updating core metrics for each initiative
  • Establish analytical frameworks for your team: ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools to surface key data to stakeholders
  • Evaluate and forecast the impact of product features on creators, viewers, and the entire Twitch ecosystem
  • Design A/B experiments to drive product direction with iterative innovation and measurement
  • Drive the team's analysis roadmap and prioritize the most valuable projects
  • Tackle complex and ambiguous analytic projects, resolve ambiguity, and accurately identify trade-offs between speed and quality, applying or routing work as necessary
  • Dive deep into the data to understand how creator and viewer behaviors change with the evolution of our products
  • Act as a thought leader on best practices and move towards a long-term vision of sustainable and thriving data processes
  • Own data collection and product instrumentation implementation and quality assurance
  • Work hand-in-hand with business, product, engineering, and design teams to proactively influence and inform teammates' decisions throughout the product lifecycle
  • Distill ambiguous product or business questions, find clever ways to answer them, and quantify uncertainty

About You

  • BA/BS in Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a data scientist or data analyst in a high-velocity, data-driven environment
  • 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
  • Expert SQL skills and proficiency in Python/R
  • Experience using data to create insight, drive business decisions, and influence leadership

  • MS/MA or higher in Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Experience working in a data science team on customer software products, analytics, and insights
  • Experience working with software development and operational event data
  • Familiarity with Twitch, either as a viewer or creator (or both)
