Summary:

The Team Leader, Nursing will spend 60% of their time in clinical shifts and 40% of their time in administrative/leadership, recognizing that at least 10% of their time in the clinical shifts is still spent coaching, mentoring, and developing staff. This is a 24-bed acute care services unit, comprised of endocrine, GI, surgical, gen peds overflow.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform all aspects of the Clinical Nurse job description when providing direct patient care during scheduled bed side care shifts
  2. Provides performance feedback to staff, including the documentation and counseling of performance issues
  3. Maintains positive staff relations through Evidence Based Leadership and Just Culture
  4. Provides appropriate recognition to staff members
  5. Balances staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and skill mix on every shift
  6. Develops and maintains positive physician relations
  7. Ensures clean sweeps/unit-based audits are conducted
  8. Ensures readiness for disease specific certification audits (where applicable)
  9. Monitors the expiration of staff licenses & certifications
  10. Assumes the Charge Nurse role (frequency varies by department)
  11. Takes on patient load shift (frequency varies by department)
  12. Conduct family rounding (as it is rolled out to specific unit)
  13. Attend leadership meetings
How You'll Be Successful:

Education: BSN Required

Credentials: BLS, PALS, TX RN License

Experience: minimum three years' nursing experience required; leadership experience preferred.
