We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our pediatric team. Job Type:

This is a full-time position that requires a high level of expertise, leadership, and collaboration. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to design and implement safe, timely, equitable, effective, patient-centered evidence-based care.

Responsibilities:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for:
  • Conducting comprehensive wellness and illness assessments, including development of a differential diagnosis.
  • Providing interventions to prevent or treat illness, including identification and treatment of symptoms, functional problems, and risk behaviors.
  • Using advanced communication skills to address complex situations and conversations.
  • Intervening to educate, guide, and coach patients, families, and caregivers to establish a patient-centered plan of care and navigate complex healthcare systems.
  • Leading discovery of innovations in patient care.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to identify and develop proactive interventions to ensure optimal clinical outcomes for patients with complex health conditions.
  • Developing innovative and effective quality improvement processes related to clinical practice at the unit and/or organizational level.
  • Identifying, trending, and evaluating clinical practice quality metrics to support changes in the delivery of care that promote optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Using and designing tools and methodologies to identify needs or gaps in the knowledge, skills, and competencies of nursing personnel to advance the practice of nursing.
Nursing/Nursing Practice:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will utilize evidence-based practices to guide nursing practice and support patients and their families. You will develop population profiles and conduct clinical inquiries to determine the need to change practice. You will utilize advanced clinical knowledge and communication skills through role modeling, consultation, and education with nurses and healthcare providers to support nursing practice and improve patient outcomes. You will create and develop evidence-based policies, procedures, protocols, and best practice models/guidelines using advanced clinical and specialty knowledge. You will assist nurses and the interprofessional team to evaluate and change practice standards and ensure nursing practice is evidence-based. You will facilitate critical thinking skills of nursing/clinical personnel. You will monitor and analyze nurse-sensitive data to develop practice guidelines for improving quality outcomes. You will serve as a leader in identifying nursing, team, technological, environmental, or systems barriers/facilitators to clinical practice that require change, enhancement, or maintenance. You will support the professional growth of nurses by identifying and promoting new learning experiences and opportunities to be reflective in their practice. You will ensure the multidisciplinary team understands and implements practice changes in accordance with regulatory agency recommendations and the National Patient Safety Goals as well as current hospital policies and procedures. You will practice within the organization's professional governance structure. You will mentor nursing staff in the evaluation and use of best available evidence (Evidence-Based Practice). You will evaluate current clinical practices and related outcomes; provides comparison to national standards. You will review and utilize current literature and research findings for evidence-based practice in the health care of pediatric patients and their families. You will participate in research through data synthesis, translation of research into clinical practice, and the generation of new knowledge by conducting research independently or in collaboration with other professionals. You will foster collaboration and build trust with nursing and medical staff to develop and conduct research studies related to specific patient problems, clinical practice, and/or new products and technology. Organization/Systems:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will lead systematic quality improvement and safety initiatives based on gap assessments and data analysis. You will disseminate and report quality indicators at the organizational level and make appropriate recommendations for changes or improvements to the care delivery structure based on analysis of reported metrics. You will drive translation of best evidence into practice and facilitate integration of multiple programs and disciplines across the healthcare system to ensure positive patient outcomes. You will collect and analyze data while utilizing collaborative systems thinking to achieve quality, cost-effective patient care and outcomes. You will advocate for the improvement of healthcare through participation in professional, private, and governmental agencies. You will create healthy communities and work to enhance a culture of health beyond the healthcare system. You will utilize expert leadership skills to influence policymakers and advocate for equitable healthcare.
